ASPIRE Metrics and OPPE
Several sites have inquired if ASPIRE metrics can and should be used for OPPE. While that decision is ultimately made by each site's practice leaders, ASPIRE believes that sites should proceed with caution. The primary purpose of ASPIRE is for collaborative quality improvement, not individual rating or credentialing review, and the measures are built with that in mind. While all ASPIRE metrics are based on the best available evidence and consensus from the ASPIRE Quality Committee, there are some areas where the evidence is still limited and there is no consensus across our entire specialty. If sites wish to use ASPIRE metrics for OPPE, our recommendation is to use one or two metrics, with performance thresholds tailored to the individual site.
